Home For the Holidays
Often times, the holiday’s can feel like a never-ending to-do list. Finish the shopping. Cook the meal. Hustle, bustle. Run here, run there.
But do we ever stop and think, what if we didn’t have all those things to do or what if we had to do them alone? While we often complain of the very things that we should be joyful for this time of year, there are so many families who long for our complaints. Military, law enforcement and those who have lost loved ones just to name a few.
As a law enforcement family often we feel the emptiness at our table and around our tree as my husband is out serving others. I try to remember that it’s just a day and that the true spirit of Christmas is in our hearts and that our celebrations will happen together. We are very fortunate knowing that our separation is temporary. So many others, like my military family friends, deal with much harder times during long deployments.
So as you gather during the coming weeks, try to savor each moment. Remember there are so many folks who long for what you have, although it may have been a “hassle” to find the perfect gift, cook the side dish or make it on time. Pray for those fighting for our freedom and keeping us safe so that you may enjoy your holiday and those whose hearts are empty this year due to loss.
Wishing you love and joy,
