Finding Your "Fierce"
When someone says the word fierce you probably immediately think of strong, bold, or maybe even mean. Those were some of the things I thought of at least until meeting Aly Raisman at my company’s convention this past July. She began to explain how fierce can be anything you want it to be.
Last week at the training I attended in Hilton Head, SC, we dove into “finding our fierce” as not only business owners but people. See, that’s what I love about what I do. While we do discuss the numbers, it’s never all about that. We’re into building people as much as we are businesses. There was one exercise in particular that stopped me in my tracks, though.
We were asked to list the attributes of three people we admire for being fierce. Immediately I listed three influential women who have been in my life in different capacities through the years. We had to write down the attributes that made them fierce. Then we were told to mark out their names, insert our own, and read those attributes out loud. Wow.
At that moment, I realized that regardless of how I see myself, someone out there sees me as fierce. I too am just like those women but for some reason, I have a hard time admitting it. I believe this is because as a society we often shame those who are confident, stand up for what they believe and live life boldly And today, this will stop for me.
Every single one of us holds those characteristics to someone else and we deserve to shout it from the rooftops. Live your life boldly. Be proud of who you are. You were made to be fierce!
With love,
