By now you’ve probably seen or heard of folks choosing a “Word of the Year”. I started using this concept at the recommendation of a friend back in 2018. I had found myself making resolutions, not sticking to them, and feeling defeated and back to square one usually by mid-January. Sound familiar? This Word of the Year concept resonated with me because I could choose a way to be or live during the year while not feeling like I had to give up because I got a little off course. So for 2023, I have chosen the word CONSISTENCY.
The first and possibly the longest month of the new year has come and gone. Hard to believe it’s been just 30 days since we set new goals, intentions, resolutions, or even words to live by for ourselves. For some today means feeling like a failure because whatever you set out to do didn’t happen. However, I want you to take today to reset and change that mindset.
A new year brings excitement, rebirth, sometimes anxiety, and often resolutions. I can say I’m feeling all of those except having a resolution. That is something I left in 2017 and haven’t looked back. I instead started choosing a word of the year, like many of you, because it made more sense to live by than something arbitrary which I would probably end up ditching in a few weeks anyway.
