Sticking to It : A Pep Talk to Everyone Ready to Throw in the Towel
Did you know that by January 12 most people have already given up on their New Year’s resolution? Are you one of them? If so, it’s ok!
That’s why this year I chose to make a priority rather than a resolution. We tend to stick to those better anyway. Knowing the statistic behind this it made me question why we are so quick to give up on ourselves? Are we not worth it?
As a parent I NEVER give up on my child. She also at the young age of 5 knows that “if we start something, we finish it.” That is something her father and I vowed that we wanted her to understand. And guess what? When your child knows you give up on yourself, they see it. I’ve been called out by mine a time or two already this year even with my priorities.
Too often people give up on themselves before they even really begin. So what if you don’t have the bikini body you wanted after 2 weeks? Who cares if you didn’t become debt free after 2 months of working a side hustle? Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Did you make progress? That’s the question we should be asking ourselves. Did you do everything you could in that 2 weeks or that 2 months to work towards your goal? If the answer is yes, then KEEP GOING! If the answer is no, then KEEP GOING!
For those of you who know my story, I had plenty of opportunities to give up.
I initially joined a different network marketing makeup company in the fall of 2015. After a 10 month journey, while having success, I made a switch to my current company. Since joining LimeLife in August 2016 there have been lots of successes which I’ve shared, but there have been days I wanted to quit. Yep, I said it. I wanted to QUIT!
Surprised? You shouldn’t be. I’m human and am vulnerable to the “I can’t do it. This is too hard” syndrome just like everyone else. But the difference is I didn’t want to give up on myself. I knew I was worth it. I knew my hopes and dreams were worth it. And most importantly I knew my family and that little girl who I was trying to teach the same was worth it.
I have also learned that sometimes the secret sauce to success is being willing to push through that moment of wanting to quit, standing your ground with your goals while everyone else walks away when the work gets HARD. That season of pushing through, and even starting over will make you grow and evolve into the best version of yourself through the trials you are facing.
So, I’ll end with challenging you today to allow yourself some grace. If you’ve already given up, start over. Think of how good you will feel when you can look in the mirror and say, “I DID THIS!”
With love,
