2025 Word of the Year

My word for 2025, SURRENDER.

I recently heard that “Peace is found in surrender, not control.” The last few months of 2024 proved this to me in ways I had never expected.

November and December were filled with lots of doctor visits, tests and anxiety as I awaited the results of a thyroid biopsy.  It’s in times like this when you realize the importance of your health and those you have walking along with and praying for you.  I surrendered it all to God; the fear, anxiety, my priorities.  Literally the ONLY thing I wanted for Christmas was a clean bill of health.  I got that gift in the form of the biopsy showing that the nodules on my thyroid are benign. While I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and will continue to have regular ultrasounds with my endocrinologist to monitor the nodules, I am so very thankful for God’s grace and mercy on my life.

During this trial, I truly let go and let God. I surrendered it all; my family, health, work, priorities. Sometimes it takes God shaking us to make us realize that despite our human efforts, He is in control.

A few lessons learned in this…

  • Don’t take your health for granted.  Even when you do your best to take care of yourself, things out of your control can and will still happen.

  • Be an advocate for your own health.  If you feel like something isn’t right, don’t stop until you have the answers for it.  I am so thankful for a provider who did all the digging and found this issue. She is truly an angel.

  • Lastly, absolutely NOTHING matters more than your relationship with Jesus.  Without my faith, I would have crumbled.  Yes, I still had my moments but regardless of what the outcome of this would have been I knew that it was God’s plan.

So look around at WHO you have in your life this new year, not what you have.  Make sure that Jesus is a part of that circle. When we surrender it all to Him, we will find true peace in 2025 and beyond.

With love,

Holly
