My Word for 2019 : Putting Simplicity into Action

January 3 and I won’t even lie...it’s been a struggle.

I’ve already caught myself headed to those old habits but intentional planning keeps me focused.  So what does simplicity look like. Here are a few ways I plan to make my vision a reality.

  • Get up 1 hour earlier with NO cell phone. (Inner voice says, “The world will not end, Holly.”)

    • This will give me the “quiet time” I need to focus on my day.  It also ensures I get hot coffee rather than luke warm from letting the day’s craziness take over.

  • Take a lunch break daily.

    • Working from home sounds grand, but the reality is you tend to work all the time and wonder why I’m starving at 2 pm.  I failed on this in 2018 so it’s time for a do-over.

  • Family dinner twice a week at the table with no devices or TV.

    • Honestly, with our crazy schedules this one will be difficult but we’ll find a way and it’ll probably come in the form of a crockpot or Instapot meal.

  • Once a month family outing.

    • This doesn’t have to cost anything.  It may be a simple trip to the river for some fishing or target practicing.  I remind myself that memories don’t have to come with a price tag.

  • No devices after 6 pm.  PERIOD.

    • I think this is pretty self-explanatory.  We have become a society of “screenslavers, “me being the biggest offender.

I think the scariest part of this is speaking it into the universe and letting people know my flaws.  However, in the end we grow from our failures.

Wishing you prosperity, love and happiness in 2019!

With Love,
